Toyota, the mother company of Scion, has decided to close down the brand in the US. Scion was meant to target the younger market. Toyota is set to take over the Scion target market. With the transition comes a new car, the Toyota GT86.
The 2017 Toyota GT86 is a sports coupe that will replace the Scion FR-S
Under the hood of this sports coupe is a 2.0-liter boxer four engine with a decent 205 bhp and 156 lb-ft output. It is 5bhp and 5lb-ft better than the FR-S. While that is not something to write home about, it is certainly fun to drive.

The GT86 comes with a six-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive. It would probably perform in the vicinity of the old model which is 7.6 seconds to 62mph from a standstill and 140mph top speed.
The Toyota GT86 does get some upgrades underneath. The gear ratios for the six-speed tranny has been updated and the suspension has been improved for better handling.

One area where there is a clear difference is the exterior with a meaner and more aggressive looking GT86. The front bumper now has a longer and bigger intake. The headlights and taillights have been updated with LED lights. The wheels are also new and fit well with the new, more aggressive styling of the car. Both the headlights and the wheels have the 86 badges. On the inside, the improvements are barely noticeable with some new silver stitching and material for the dash and doors.
The price on the car has not been announced yet but it is estimated to be under £25,000 range. The car will be available at your favorite dealership in autumn this year. Stay tuned for updates on specs and price.
