The Renault Trezor Concept Looks Stunning

The Honda Civic Type R concept made the biggest splash at the recent Paris Motor Show. Well, it was probably the closest one to production too. But Renault unveiled a stunner of a concept car that made quite a buzz.

Renault Trezor (7)

Meet the futuristic looking Renault Trezor concept car.

The Renault Trezor is the brainchild of design director Laurens van den Acker. The Trezor is an electric vehicle and is powered by an electric motor that produces 350bhp and 282 lb-ft of torque. Being an electric car, it has quick acceleration, capable of reaching 62mph in just under 4 seconds from a dead stop.

The Trezor concept also uses technology from Formula E, namely the “rechargeable energy storage system.” There is no mention of top speed or how far the range is. But we do know that there are two batteries, each with its own cooling system.

Renault clearly wanted to not only showcase the EV technology but also the aesthetics. The Trezor doesn’t have doors but has a sliding canopy instead. The driver and passenger are enclosed in a carbon fibre monocoque and surrounded by a panoramic windscreen. The front grille is covered in hexagonal shapes and also has an intake to cool the batteries. The body is curvy and sculpted to direct airflow to the rear.

The Trezor features a host of high-tech stuff like the Organic Light Emitting Diode and Gorilla Glass display. The car also features autonomous driving mode to go along with more conventional sports and neutral modes. Exterior lighting changes to signal other drivers on the road that the car is in autonomous mode. The instrument display is a mix of analogue and digital gauges.

The Renault Trezor concept is a long ways off from seeing production.

Renault reckons that it will be ready in 2020 when the autonomous driving tech is already matured. For now, we will just have to marvel at this stunning concept and wait for the day Renault finally builds it for us.
