The Mercedes-AMG C43 to Debut at the Geneva Show

The Mercedes-AMG C43 has been resurrected, 19 years after the original was introduced. The 1997 edition C43 was an AMG-Tuned C-Class Mercedes that had a 4.3 liter V8 that produced 306bhp and could do 5.7-second sprints to 60mph. It is back again, this time, as the middle child of the AMG Sport Line.

The New Mercedes-AMG C43

The Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe (which is the official designation) has a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine with a power output of 362bhp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The C43 can do the 62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 155mph due to a limiter. It is .8 seconds slower than the 503bhp C63.

The 4MATIC stands for four-wheel drive with automatic transmission. The car has a rear-biased distribution ratio of 31:69. The drive modes include Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The brakes are bigger than the standard C-Class coupes.

The C43 also features AMG Ride Control sport suspension which can change the suspension characteristics with the push of a button just like the C63. Also taken from the C63 is the new four-link front axle that has steering knuckles and load bearing joints on spring links. The car also features a three-stage Electronic Stability Program.

Other features in the C43 are the 18-inch AMG allow wheels, AMG instrument cluster, AMG front and rear aprons and tailpipes. The car has a multifunction steering wheel and fully customised upholstery.

All the specs and features in this car make it worthy to sport the AMG badge. The car will debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The cost of this AMG-powered C43 is £47,000 which is around £20,000 less than the C63. The car is set to be in your local dealership by April this year.
