When we think of supercars, we think of the loud, powerful and petrol hungry beast that can tear up the streets. These cars are made to perform on the road or the track. Most often, the power and performance come with sacrifices to luxury and creature comforts. McLaren hopes to change the image of how supercars are looked at by transforming the existing McLaren 570S into a more functional and more practical beast in the McLaren 570GT.
McLaren 570GT for long drives
The McLaren 570GT is what it means to be refined in a world of massive horsepower and aerodynamic downforce. The “GT” in the 570GT is not the designation usually assigned for high-performance cars but means “grand touring”. For all intents and purposes, the 570GT is indeed a car meant of long journeys on the open road.

Underneath the bonnet of this supercar is a mid-mounted 4.0 liter V8 that produces a mighty 562bhp and 442 lb-ft of torque. It can still send you flying to 62mph in just 3.4 seconds and still breaks the 200mph barrier with a top speed of 204mph. The transmission in the 570GT is a seven-speed dual clutch semi-automatic transmission and has rear wheel drive. Although it is .2 seconds slower than the 570S in terms of accelerating from a standstill, this is still supercar worthy specs.
What separates the 570GT from the 570S is the practicality and usability. It has a sizeable trunk space behind the driver and passenger to the tune of 12.4 cubic feet. The glass in the rear hatch is curved so you can fit more luggage in the boot. Other creature comforts include a sunroof, power-adjustable heated seats and a full leather interior which includes the trunk.
Improved driving experience with the McLaren 570GT
The supercar sports softer suspension and anti-roll bars to improve drivability on bad roads. The exhaust has been muffled to give the car a quieter ride. And the carbon-ceramic disc brakes of the 570S has been replaced by steel ones. The car also features special Pirelli tires that reduce cabin noise.

There are a lot more features in the 570GT that further refines the supercar. The car will be available in Luxury, B or M Sport trim. What the car sacrifices in performance, it makes up in luxury and the price reflects it. The cost of the 570GT is $198,950 US Dollars which is $14,000 more than the 570S. Having luxury and performance does not come cheap.
The 570GT will be available late this year for those who are interested.
