Holden will be ceasing its Australian production by 2017. They will instead be focusing on selling rebranded GM vehicles after the factories close down. But they will not be going quietly into the night and go out with a bang instead. To make that possible, Holden will be making the last iteration of the Commodore into an absolute beast.

The Holden Special Vehicles division (according to reports) will be creating the last version of the Commodore called the GTS-R W1
Underneath the hood of the GTS-R W1 will live the LS9 engine from the Corvette ZR1. The LS9 engine is a supercharged 6.2 litre V8 capable of producing a massive 638bhp and 604 lb-ft of torque. It should be capable of accelerating to 62mph from a dead stop in 4 seconds and have a top speed of around 200mph. The LS9 engine will be paired with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive.
The GTS-R W1 will be using the 2017 Commodore chassis and some Aussie built parts. The four-door saloon will be sporting Australian made Supashock dampers and big steel brakes from AP. It should also have some of the things from the old 2012 GTS such as magnetic ride control suspension and Enhanced Driver Interface.
The GTS-R W1 will have a limited run of just 250 vehicles and will only be sold in Australia.

The price for this last run Commodore GTS-R W1 is rumoured to start at around $128,000 which is a bit pricey. Even if this is what you can call as the four-door version of the Corvette ZR1, the price is a bit of an issue considering the actual ZR1 costs much less. Well, if you really want to have this limited edition Commodore GTS-R W1 (if it makes it into production) then be prepared to break the bank.
Do you think the Holden Commodore GTS-R W1 is worth the price?
