The Italian Carabinieri Gets Alfa Romeo’s Giulia QV as Patrol Cars

Some of the most powerful cars have been used as police cars. Dubai has a lineup of ridiculously expensive supercars as police vehicles. They have a Bugatti Veyron, a couple of Lamborghinis and Ferraris and even an ultra-rare Aston Martin One-77. The United States have used Corvettes and Mustangs for police work. And now, the top-tier Italian Police unit, the Carabinieri, gets its own supercar.

Italy’s homegrown Alfa Romeo Giulia QV to chase down bad guys

The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is a four-door saloon that sports a 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged V6 that can produce a mighty 503bhp. It can accelerate from a standstill to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 191mph. This should be pretty quick to catch all those law breakers, granting they don’t use Lamborghinis and Ferraris that top out beyond 200mph.

Where the Giulia QV shines is that it is a proper four-door saloon. It has seats for police officers as well as the perps they catch. It even has enough rear trunk space to store all the police gear the Carabinieri might need for their work.

The Carabinieri edition Alfa Romeo Giulia QV will also have the standard performance pieces like the standard production version. It has active aerodynamic front splitters and huge rear diffusers. The saloon also has an all aluminium suspension and a lot of carbon fibre parts for weight savings.

One other thing that probably made this car the choice for the top-tier Italian Police Unit is the fact that the Giulia QV ran the Nurburgring with a time of 7 minutes and 39 seconds. That makes the Giulia QV the fastest saloon to run “The Ring”, beating the BMW M4 by 13 seconds. Germany uses the M-Series BMWs as their police cars.

For those interested, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV will be available in September. The base price for this Italian Super Saloon is at $70,000 USD. Would you want to drive a Giulia QV or see it in its Police version in your rear view mirror? We would probably just want to drive it rather than be chased by it.
