Hyundai has recently been in the news with its N-Performance concept car at the Paris Motor Show. With the SEMA Show fast approaching, Hyundai is at it again. This time, the mild-mannered Santa Fe takes on the role of a bad-ass off road beast.
The Hyundai Santa Fe Concept is commissioned by Rockstar Energy drink.
Being commissioned by an energy drink company means that it comes with some more power from the engine. Underneath the bonnet is the same 3.3 liter V6 engine that powers the standard Santa Fe. But it gets a little more “oomph” that the 290bhp and 252 lb-ft of torque courtesy of the custom Magna Flow Exhaust system and nitrous oxide system. If this is a 10-second car, Hyundai is not telling.
The engine is not the only thing they modified with the Rockstar Santa Fe. They also added a new cold air intake and a Mishimoto cooling system. The suspension setup is also custom, increasing the ride height and giving the Santa Fe off-roading capabilities. It also has all wheel drive and bigger six piston brakes.
To complete the off-road look, the Rockstar Santa Fe sports custom LED light bars, roof rack, rock sliders and bumpers. It also has a powerful winch to get you out of the mud. The headlights and tail lights have been redone too. The Santa Fe sits on 35-inch off road tires paired with custom 17-inch bead lock rims. The interior has also been given some new leather upholstery.
The Rockstar Santa Fe will likely be a one-off show car.
Seeing the car makes us off-road guys wish that they would at least consider having this as a special edition Santa Fe. Good job Hyundai; now get it to production fast! Stay tuned to more custom cars as the SEMA Show is just around the corner.
