Ford successfully returned to Le Mans and once again won its class at the 24 Hour race with the new Ford GT. In 1966, Ford also had a dominant showing in the 24 Hour race with the original Ford GT40. Now, the company is commemorating it with a gorgeous looking car.

The win that the supercar commemorates is the historic 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour race which had seen a 1-2-3 finish for the Ford Team. The winning car is a Ford GT40 Mk.II is driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon.
The Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition is the mix of the new 2017 GT with the livery of the 1966 GT40 race car. This particular GT is painted Shadow Black with the choice of either Matte or Gloss finish. The GT comes with silver racing stripes and exposed carbon bits. The no. 2 graphics on the hood which is the number of the winning race car adds to the racing theme. The wheels have a gold satin clear coat finish.

The interior of the ’66 Heritage Edition matches the external colour scheme with Ebony leather while the seatbelts get blue webbing. There will also be a numbered plaque for each unit of this limited edition supercar.
The all new 2017 Ford GT is an upgraded version of the GT supercar. The new GT features a 3.5-litre engine with the Ecoboost technology. The power plant can generate over 600bhp and is mated to a seven-speed double clutch automatic transmission. This supercar can do 0 to 62mph in 3.3 seconds and top out at over 200mph.
The 2017 Ford GT will be available later this year with only 250 units per year. The price tag for a Ford GT will be around $400,000. The Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition will surely be worth a lot more than the base price.
