The Chevy Upgrades the Camaro to a Track Ready Racer

Having a track-ready racer is all the rage in 2016. There is a bunch of cars that are race ready out of the dealership. But if you already have a Camaro and wish it was a racer then Chevrolet has you covered.

Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the Chevrolet Camaro 1LE.

The Chevy Camaro 1LE is the track ready version of the standard Camaro. The most powerful powerplant in the Camaro is the 6.2 litre V8 capable of churning out 455bhp and 455 lb-ft of torque. The Camaro can accelerate from zero to 62mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 177mph. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or the ten-speed automatic option.

The 1LE package upgrades a lot of the other components to make the car track ready. The V8 package adds magnetic dampers, springs and stabiliser bars to make the suspension track compliant. There are a new electronic differential and a new set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. It also comes with six-piston Brembo brakes for additional stopping power. The gearbox has a short shifter that goes with the active rev-matching system. There is also a track mode added to the driving modes.

The exterior has also had some subtle modifications. The aerodynamic package includes matching black front splitters, rear diffusers and ducktail spoilers. The mirrors and bonnet are also satin black. Inside the Recaro racing seats come as standard.

The Chevrolet Camaro 1LE package upgrades the car to a track day racer but retains being a road legal vehicle.

The 1LE package can be bought pre-installed in a Camaro or bought separately if you already have an existing car. The package is available for the V6 and V8 versions of the Camaro. The package costs $4,500 for the V6 version and $6,500 for the V8 (car not included).
