The Aston Martin DB11 is here!

Aston Martin debuted the DB11 back in March at the Geneva Motor Show. The unveiling was overshadowed by much flashier cars such as the Bugatti Chiron and Lamborghini Centenario. Well, the DB11 is now arriving to the dealerships and to some lucky owners.

Here are what you should know about the Aston Martin DB11, the new English supercar.

The Aston Martin DB11 is an all-new supercar with almost everything being new unlike previous models like the DB9 that shared much of their DNA with their predecessors. Underneath the bonnet of the DB11 lives a 5.2-litre twin turbo V12 engine that churns out a massive 600bhp and 516 lb-ft.  The engine is the first turbocharged engine from Aston Martin and is paired with an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission. The DB11 is no slouch as it can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 200mph.

The styling of Aston Martin has drastically improved with the DB11. It takes cues from the Vulcan and design genius that is Andy Palmer. The DB11 is much sleeker with its bonded aluminium chassis. The design is dictated by the car’s engineering. For example, the hood is a single clamshell design that makes it rigid and reduces the shut lines. The daytime running lights are made of LEDs and are taken from the Vulcan. The interior electronics is from Mercedes-Benz including the 12 inch TFT LCD main display.

The aerodynamics of the car has also been improved from previous models. The DB11 does away with the fixed spoilers and replaced it with the AeroBlade which feeds air to the boot and rear panel. The DB11 also has what the company calls the curlicue vent that reduces high-pressure air from the wheel arches to reduce lift and aiding traction.

Being a true grand tourer, the DB11 has an adaptive damping system and electric power steering. The double wishbone suspension is stiffer and gives the car better handling.

So how much is a supercar of the DB11’s calibre going to cost? The DB11 will set you back around £167,000 for the base model without the additional bits. The £160,000 price range seems to be the sweet spot for the price most supercars these days. You can even buy a track ready McLaren for about the same price.

So if you had £167,000, would you spend it on the Aston Martin DB11 or some other supercar? Let us know in the comments below.
