The Aston Martin DB10: Feel Like James Bond for Just A Million Pounds

Every James Bond movie has two stars, the secret agent and the car he drives. Aston Martin has been 007’s choice of car for a long time, and quite frankly, it fits his style. Now if you want to feel like James Bond, you have a chance to do so; for a price of course.

The world-renowned auction house, Christie’s, will be auctioning out one of the cars used in the most recent James Bond flick Spectre on 18 February. This is one of ten cars that were commissioned for the film and got its screen time. Daniel Craig himself drove this car to the London premiere of the film.

The Supercar: Aston Martin DB10

The Aston Martin DB10 is based on the Aston Martin Vantage V8. It has a 4.7 liter V8 engine that has a power output of 420bhp and 350 ft-lb of torque.  It can accelerate from naught to 60mph in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 190mph. The DB10 has a six-speed sequential manual transmission delivering power to the rear wheels.

While, under the bonnet, it is essentially a Vantage, what really makes this car stand out is the exterior design. The DB10 has been designed to be an ostentatious supercar. The cars were hand-built in collaboration with the film’s director. The DB10 uses the Aston Martin VH platform but has a longer wheelbase and has a width similar to the Aston Martin One-77. The body is made of carbon fibre.

Is it worth it?

Eight of the ten cars have been used in the filming of the movie while another two were used to promote the film. And this would be the 50th year of the partnership between the movie franchise and the car maker with the first Aston Martin Bond car being a DB5.

The car is expected to fetch between £1,000,000 and £1,500,000 in an auction along with other props used in the film. For that same amount of cash, you can get the Aston Martin One-77 and there are 77 of those vehicles available. This, however, is one of only ten and the first one to be sold.

Isn’t it way cooler to own a car that 007 drove? This would also be a good investment considering how much the value of cars goes for in auctions these days.

The base model of the Aston Martin Vantage V8 sold for £79,000. Do you think the car is worth a hefty million pounds?
