The AMG tuned GLC43 Crossover

Crossover SUVs are all the rage these days. At the top end of the crossover heap are the Porsche Macan GTS, BMW X4 and Jaguar F-Pace S. Now, Mercedes is entering the fray with an AMG-tuned crossover SUV. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 crossover SUV.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe is a full-size crossover SUV.

Underneath the bonnet is the AMG-tuned 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 that churns out 362bhp and 384 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine that you will find in the SLC43 AMG roadster and the C43 AMG Estate. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and rear-biased all wheel drive. The GLC43 can accelerate from a standstill to 62mph in 4.9 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155mph.

The GLC43 coupe is meant for the road and also built to take some off-road excursions. The GLC43 comes with an air ride suspension to increase ride height when you need it. The suspension is also equipped with an adaptive system that adjusts the stiffness in each axle to reduce the body roll which is pretty useful when turning in uneven road surfaces. The GLC43 also has 360mm disc brakes behind the 21-inch rims. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention that it has a ducktail for some aerodynamics.

The off-road capability of the GLC43 is also helped by the 300mm wading depth. It can also tow around 2.5 tonnes. The all-wheel drive system and rear bias should help you clear most inclines.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

It will also be available at your favourite Mercedes dealership in October. The GLC43 will set you back £50,000 without the optional bits. So do you think the AMG bits are worth paying a premium over the standard GLC? Let us know in the comments section below.
