Ford Upgrades the F-150 Raptor with the Supercrew Edition

The Ford F-150 Raptor is already an amazing beast. Introduced in 2015, it has been very well received by owners and fans alike. It should be because it performs well whether on the road or when doing a bit of offroading. It is already very good but Ford just made it great with the Supercrew edition.

The new Ford F-150 just got an upgrade

The Ford F-150 Raptor Supercrew sports a 3.5 litre V6 that can produce a mighty 411bhp and 434lb-ft of torque. All that power is managed by a 10-speed automatic gearbox and puts it to good use with the all-wheel drive system. The engine also sports the Ecoboost technology to make it more efficient while producing the needed power.

The Ecoboost has been used in smaller cars like the Ford Fiesta as part of the company’s move to be more environmentally conscious. The V6 also is smaller than the V8 of the old F-150 but is more powerful and has better emission numbers.

The four-wheel drive system also gets an upgrade in the Supercrew. The drive system can deliver the torque on demand and also mechanically lock the AWD. It also sports 6 drive modes to tackle any terrain. The all new “Baja” drive mode was specifically added to handle the sandy desert at high speeds.

The Supercrew gets some aesthetic upgrades too.

It sports a body made of military grade aluminium alloy. They also added new shock absorbers and sports exhaust. An optional bit would be to add the Torsen differential to the front axle which should improve handling and get you out of tricky spots quicker.

The biggest difference though between the F-150 Raptor and the Supercrew version is that the latter has four full sized doors. This means that the rear passengers get more leg room which would make this the ideal family car to tackle deserts while bringing the kids along for the ride. The wheelbase has been increased by 12-inches to accommodate the extra space.

The Ford F-150 Raptor Supercrew will be available this fall. There is still no word on how much it costs but it should be well beyond the $50,000 of the base model F-150 Raptor.
