Australian StreetFX Motorsports Builds a Wicked GT86

The Toyota GT86 has been a favourite among tuners around the world. It is both affordable and a good platform for modifications. Someone already mounted a Ferrari 488 engine on the two door coupe. Now, Australia-based tuner StreetFX Motorsports has built probably the most awesome GT86 around.

The StreetFX GT86 started out as a mildly tuned car with just a wide body kit and some upgrades.

The finished product is something to behold.

Underneath the bonnet lives the twin-turbo V6 engine from the Nissan GT-R. They took the standard GT-R engine and increased the displacement to 4.1 litres using a stroker kit and turbine kit. They added aftermarket turbos and wastegates from HKS. The internals is also from HKS and increases the piston stroke to 95.5mm. The exhaust manifold was also upgraded to accommodate the engine upgrades.

The engine was mounted to the GT86 using modified engine mounts from a Nissan Silvia. The result of the substantial engine mods is a staggering 1000whp; that’s 1000 horsepower at the wheels. You should be either excited or scared of those numbers.

The engine is paired with an Albins six-speed sequential gearbox. Albins is responsible for making gearbox for Australian V8 racers. The gearbox uses paddle shifters from Motec for faster gear changes. At the rear end is an 8.8in Ford Mustang differential with motorsports diff conversion kit. Front splitters and fixed rear wings were added to keep the car on the road.

The interior of the GT86 was not gutted. The dash, radio and air conditioning were all retained. StreetFX added a roll cage for safety and strength.

The goal for the GT86 was to be an all around street racer. The GT86 can do time attacks, drag and roll racing. By making an all around street car, the GT86 is not limited to any one specific racing type. At 1000whp, it should be very competitive. Did we mention it looks good too?

We do hope they show a video of what the car can do. Stay tuned!
