Subaru is known for its cool road going drift cars like the famed Impreza STI. Many people don’t know that the Subaru Forester was based on the same platform as the Impreza and even used the same engine way back when it was launched. The Foresters of late were much more mild mannered machines but a limited edition Forester is about to change that.

Australia, are you ready for the Subaru Forester tS?
The limited edition Subaru Forester tS is tuned by Subaru Technica International (or STI) which is the high-performance tuning department of Subaru. Under the bonnet of the Forester lives a 2.0 litre turbocharged, four-cylinder producing 237bhp and 258lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission.

If you are wondering what the acceleration of the car is, the Forester can do a 0 to 62mph sprint in 7 seconds. It surely will not be racing around like an Impreza, but it can handle the Australian dirt roads with ease.
Since this is a limited edition crossover SUV tuned by STI, it does get some additional bits that make this better than the top-end XT model. It sports bigger, four piston brakes up front and two-piston rear brakes courtesy of Brembo. The 19-inch Enkei wheels are also bigger than the standard models. The ride height is lower by 15mm courtesy of the STI tuned dampers and coil springs. The interior of the Forester also sports the STI badge.
All the additional bits does add to the cost of the new Forester tS. The price for the limited edition Forester starts at £28,000 which is £3,500 more than the current top of the line model. There will only be 300 examples of this crossover SUV and half of them have already been reserved. Better hurry to your local dealer if you are interested in one. The remaining cars will be available from Australian dealerships starting this June.
