Audi Introduces the Limited Edition R8 Selection 24h

Audi won the Nurburgring 24 hour race in 2015 with the R8 LMS. It was a historic win for the company and to commemorate the win, they will be building a limited edition R8 Plus. While this is not a race car, it will feature some racing-inspired technology.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Audi R8 V10 Plus Selection 24h.

The base of the limited edition car is still the V10 Plus. The engine in the new R8 24h is the same V10 found in the V10 Plus but the power is cranked up to 602bhp. It is by far the most powerful production R8. The performance according to the reports will be almost identical with a zero to 62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 205mph.

While the performance is more or less the same with the base model, the R8 24h does have a lot of upgrades to the exterior. Around 50% of the R8 LMS components have been added to the R8 24h to give it that race car appeal. There is extensive carbon fibre aerodynamic package starting with the front spoilers, mirror, hood, rear wing and diffusers. The side blades are also made of carbon fibre and feature the R8 24h logo. The R8 24h also features a new dynamic steering system and adaptive damper control.

The interior is designed to give the driver the racing car feel with what Audi has named Monoposto Arc. Some fun bits would be the entry lights projecting the R8 24h logo on the pavement as you unlock the car and the serial number for the car is displayed in the interior. And there are the futuristic laser headlights, which is not legal on US roads.

The Audi R8 V10 Plus Selection 24h will be limited to, well, 24 units. The cost for one these would be $260,000 USD. But for interested parties in the US, you might have to swap out the headlights for something more conventional.
