Auctions: Classic Ferraris are the on the Block at Paris Show

There has been a flurry of auctions in recent weeks. A Mercedes-Benz sold for a record-setting sum of $9.9 million US Dollars in Arizona is the week’s big auctioneering news. There is indeed big money to be made; if you have the right cars to sell.

The Paris Retromobile Show will hold its own classic auction on the 6th and 7th of February. The show will feature some very high-end classics for sale to the highest bidders. The top item on the block is a Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti which is expected to fetch a massive sum of up to £25,000,000.

Time to break the bank, gents!

The Ferrari 335 S is a famed racing car that was driven by Mike Hawthorn in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race. It also competed in several other races until it became part of the collection of Pierre Bardinon. Enzo Ferrari himself once said that his factory collection does not have this because Pierre Bardinon has done it for him. The race car has a 4.0 liter V12 engine that had a power output of 390bhp and a top speed of 300km/h.

A 2010 Ferrari California is also up for auction. This Ferrari is one of the last Ferraris ever to have a manual gearbox and at least, 5 are known to exist with the stick shift tranny.

A number of other classic Ferraris such as a 1963 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, a one-off 1986 Testarossa Spyder and a 1962 250 GT Cabriolet Series 2 will be up for auction in Paris. In 2014, a Ferrari 250 GTO sold at auction fetched a record sum of $40,000,000 US Dollars. It would be safe to say that Ferraris are the hottest items on the classic car auctions these days.

Another interesting car up for auction is a 1995 Bugatti EB110 SS which could fetch £1,000,000. The Bugatti competed in Daytona and La Sarthe.

The Retromobile show has been held annually since 1976 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The show is both a classic car show and an auction and is usually the first classic car show of the year.
