The hot hatch market has been buzzing lately. VW has recently updated the Golf Mk7 and Ford has the Fiesta ST200. Renault has taken a step back by cancelling the Clio RS16. To make up for the Clio, Renault has introduced a tiny hot hatch, the Twingo GT.

The Renault Twingo GT is an update to the award winning Twingo of 2014.
The Twingo GT is powered by a turbo-charged 898cc three-cylinder petrol engine producing 108bhp and 125lb-ft of torque. The zero to 62mph time of 9.6 seconds and 113mph top speed will not win you any races, but the 54mpg fuel economy will surely get you some lunch money. The Twingo GT has a proper 5-speed manual gearbox with shorter gear ratio and rear wheel drive.

Being badged a GT means that it has some performance upgrades as well. The suspension has been retooled and lowered by 20mm. The springs also let the car drift a bit if you are brave though to throttle out of a corner. The dampers are also a bit stiffer and there is a bigger anti-roll bar in place. Elsewhere, the ECU and throttle have been remapped to account for the turbocharger. The Electric Stability Control has also been reworked for better handling. There is also a new twin-tip exhaust and a small intake vent for the turbocharger.
If you want to give the Twingo GT some flare, you can opt for some optional bits such as side skirts, rear diffusers and orange trims. You can also add climate control, auto lights and wipers, fog lights and parking sensors to the Twingo GT.

The Renault Twingo GT will be available in your favourite dealerships shortly. The cost of the base Twingo GT model will be £13,755.
Does the Twingo GT makeup for the canceled Clio RS16? Well no, but it will surely keep us waiting for it a bit longer.
